But I have always been of the mind that rules shouldn't really be actively "considered" when writing. Obviously, there are ways to improve writing by looking at these guidelines, and taking the advice to avoid overuse of these things is a good idea. But I always worry about the story first. The other stuff happens at least somewhat naturally throughout the rest of the process, and I try not to focus on being "mistake" free.Mere Joycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05659598966162312830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1869821474801945392.post-58628255485269934552013-06-11T04:51:50.027-04:002013-06-11T04:51:50.027-04:00Story is everything in writing. I agree with you though. Story comes first and, if you tell a great story, you can get away with a lot!!

Quick question though--and I believe I asked you this before but now I forget the answer. Is there a quick way to tell a passive sentence? Some kind of word to look out for? I don't know if I use a lot of those or not. I can never remember exactly what it is, no matter how many times I'm told. It's like I have a friggin mental block against it. haha

any tips?

~TamaraAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17511294672797130783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1869821474801945392.post-78820667253288818132013-06-10T13:12:15.823-04:002013-06-10T13:12:15.823-04:00I think it comes down to knowing when to break the...I think it comes down to knowing when to break the rules.
